The past 3 1/2 weeks saw all students at St Rita’s involved in running laps before school. This was to prepare them for the upcoming cross country as well as promoting a healthy lifestyle. The laps were recorded for all students by all classes. The students were given straws for laps completed and these were tallied for points as part of cross country.
We also used this as a record to see what our combined running distance was as a whole school. It was a fantastic result as we saw that we completed 1296.54 km in total. This was nearly from Innisfail to Bundaberg! All students must be congratulated for this performance! Considering we ran 100km further than last year in a shorter period of time and with less students.
A massive thank you must go out to the sport captains and year 5/6 students. They were fantastic every morning when setting up the track and handing out straws. Thank you also to the parents who helped with straws, especially on those busy hall running days!
The winning students from each year group were awarded with a prize after the cross country presentation.
The winning students were:-
Prep– Dean Stephenson (62 laps)
Year 1– Happy Venables (92 laps)
Year 2– Reef Galea (123 laps)
Year 3– Nevaeh Galea (131 laps)
Year 4- Luke Magnanini (170 laps)
Year 5- Blake Taylor (108 laps)
Year 6– Braden Venables (112 laps)
